How We Feel: An App for Emotional Wellbeing
How We Feel is a free Android app designed to help people understand and navigate their emotions. Created in collaboration with Yale University's Center for Emotional Intelligence and based on the work of Dr. Marc Brackett, the app offers users a way to track their emotions, sleep, exercise, and health trends to identify patterns over time. The app is a science-based nonprofit, funded by donations from people who are passionate about bringing mental wellbeing to the widest possible audience.
How We Feel allows users to find the right words to describe their emotions and offers strategies to help them regulate their emotions in the moment. The app features step-by-step video strategies on themes such as "Change Your Thinking" to address negative thought patterns and "Move Your Body" to express and release emotions through movement. The "Be Mindful" strategy helps users gain perspective and minimize the negative impact of misunderstood emotions, while the "Reach Out" strategy encourages building intimacy and trust with others. The app also features a "Friends" feature that allows users to share how they feel with people they trust in real-time, strengthening their relationships.
